Feedback on Teaching Survey

Please note: The new Student Feedback Survey combines elements of the Subject Feedback Survey and the Feedback on Teaching Survey in a single form.

Benefits of streamlining the process include:

  • less disruption during class
  • reduced paper and print wastage
  • staff will no longer need to order feedback on teaching forms separately, and
  • faculty maintain the ability to add items to the survey.

About the Feedback on Teaching Survey

Feedback on Teaching

The Feedback on Teaching Survey (FoTS) gives individual lecturers and tutors personal feedback on their teaching performance. Only the individual teacher concerned receives a copy of the feedback. PQU offers a range of standard survey options as well as an item bank of  questions from which staff can choose.  This enables staff to customize their feedback forms.

Subject Experience Questionnaires (Pre-2001)

  • Option A: Standard Subject Questionnaire
  • Option B: Standard Teaching Questionnaire

This is an adaptation of the questionnaire used nationally as a performance indicator. It contains items making up five scales: good teaching (Items 3, 7, 15, 17, 18, 20), clear goals and standards (Items 1, 6, 13, 24), appropriate workload (Items 4, 14, 21, 23), appropriate assessment (Items 8, 12, 16, 19), generic skills (Items 2, 5, 9, 10, 11, 22 ), plus overall satisfaction (Item 25).  PQU proposes that, with the use of either one of the two overall ratings questions listed as Item 26, the following 25 items are appropriate for use as either a teaching questionnaire or a subject questionnaire.
