AUQA Audit 2006
The Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA), an independent, government-sponsored, national agency, audited the quality assurance arrangements of UTS early in 2006. The audit constituted a quality review of the entire University.
During 2006, PQU was involved in:
- coordinating preparation of a UTS performance portfolio for AUQA;
- managing preparations for the offshore audit visit in late April-early May and the onshore audit visit from 22-25 May;
- developing and maintaining audit material on the UTS planning website to keep staff up to date; and
- coordinating preparation of an action plan to address the issues raised in the AUQA audit report.
Planning
The UTS Planning website outlines how UTS prepared for and the results of the AUQA Audit 2006.What does an AUQA audit involve?
Whole of institution audits, such as the audit of UTS, are based on a self-assessment by the institution as well as a site visit. AUQA utilizes panels of experts with substantial senior academic and administrative experience in higher education in Australia and abroad to undertake audits. AUQA's website introduces the panel used in 2006. AUQA investigated the extent to which UTS was achieving its published mission and objectives. The panel assessed the adequacy of the University's quality assurance arrangements in the areas of teaching and learning, research and management. Also open for scrutiny were overseas activities and the University's success in maintaining Australian higher education standards.
